Leeuwarden, located in the north of the Netherlands, houses this study. Next to its function as the capital city of the province of Friesland, it is mainly a city of students and coziness. The city contains over 85000 residents, of which 17000 are students that follow courses at one of three institutes that are located in here. And ofcourse, where students are there is also sociability! Friesland is the province of watersports in the Netherlands, and this is clearly noticable in Leeuwarden: in the summer the city attracts lots of tourists, the canals will be sided by terraces, the harbour will be full of boats and the excuse of 'being late because the bridge was open' is actually valid. Sports-wise there are lots of activities: soccer, rugby, hockey, tennis, volleyball, rowing, everything is possible. There are also two (subtropical) swimming pools in Leeuwarden that are open during both summr and winter. In the summer you could also choose to swim outside in the recreational areas on the eastskirts of Leeuwarden.
