Welcome to ICZM.nl! The website belonging to the Integrated Coastal Zone Management bachelor course at the Van Hall-Larenstein Institute, located in Holland. The purpose of this website is to deliver as much information as possible about the course to potential students and interested people. Many people make claims about the national and international coastal zone areas. Just think about people that are attempting to protect nature, fishermen, oilcompanies and tourists. The developments in the coastal areas are becoming more and more complex. Do we want a second airport near the sea? What are the real impacts of gasdrills in sea? What are the borders of the development of large windmill farms in sea? These are all matters that need to be guided in the right way. As a coastal zone manager you will have to know what you want, because the stakes are often high! You will follow a broad range of courses, ranging from ecology and (sea)law to communcation and researchmethodology. Next to this, excursion will occur often and you will follow 2 internships, each lasting 5 months. This way you will experience what field of actions suits you best.
